WELCOME TO THE  ACHIEVER'S LIST!

PLEASE KEEP READING AS WE HAVE A SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT ......

Be proud of your great accomplishment and at the same time
help others know what you've come to know about being "smoke-free"!

IMPORTANT NOTICE

NEW - Beginning immediately Anniversary Pins will be sent to all
Quit Smoking Achievers who wish to participate!

As of September 1, 2010 James aka Bubba  will be presenting an anniversary pin to every quit smoking achiever who joins the Freedom Village Forum Achiever's List.

Here is how it works:

1. When you give your information to be listed on Freedom Village Forum Achiever's List  you are giving permission to allow monthly mention of your achievement anniversary on the forum.

2. You agree to confirm or update your quit smoking anniversary on a yearly basis or your name will be dropped from our list until we hear from you. A profile on the Achiever's List will not be created for you with your personal acknowledgement to James Davis through email and you will not be eligible for a pin unless you send your mailing address directly to Mr. Davis.

3. To recieve an anniversary pin you must send your mailing address to James aka Bubba at one of these email addresses: james011155 at yahoo.com or  james11155 at yahoo.com

4. You agree to notify James Davis, Mags Sipole or Shaine Love if you should loose your quit. We will reactivate your quit only when you feel confident enough for us to do so.

5. Your pin, if at all possible, will be sent to you no matter where you live so long as your quit is valid and you have a mailing address.

6. You can be confident that your mailing address and email address will always be confidential and not used for any purpose other than sending you your pin.

7. You do not have to post or participate in the forum to be listed on the Achiever's List but you must be quit from smoking.

Family Webpage
By Richard Coutu

The above picture is from Max's cousin, Richard's family website. This is Max with her husband Bob at their wedding on January 6, 1962. They had three sons.

Richard tells me, "Maxine also had maintained a website titled: "Backyard Neighbors". She had a keen interest in birds and had taken several photographs of all kinds of birds. The site has been removed since she had passed on."

He shared this post with me made (some parts removed) by Max back in 2000: "My Dad's father owned and operated a restaurant in Apponaug (Warwick, Rhode Island} The name of it was the Father Son. It was in operation until maybe 15 to 20 years ago and was famous for its homecooking cuisine. We lived in Centerville a village in the town of West Warwick and I along with my three older sisters, Yvaine, Claudette and Jackie all attended Christ The King grammar school."

If you would like to know more about Max and her Coutu family, Richard's family picture page would be a good start.  Maxine's Family Picture History

How did I get to know Max? I only know it was through an email and I'm not at all sure how she found Freedom Village Forum. I want to say she came from QuitNet or found us through my genealogy page. I think though, that Mags might have been a Mentor,  but again I don't know. I do know Max was a member of this online community family and that is something I take very serious. Maybe I'm overly sensitive but I do know I cared about Max and her quit just as much as I do every one involved with quitting smoking.  Max will be missed but maybe this dedication will remind us that she was a real person and not just "an entity" in cyberspace.

Achiever's Quit Smoking List....what is it and why the yearly updates?
"It is that time of the year when I try to confirm everyone's quit dates are accurate and still correct and safe. I've had a few who have felt it is wrong for me to drop and add names from the list but I feel our lives are constantly changing and it is important our Acheiver's List integrity stay intact.

We tell ourselves that we will never smoke again but none of us are perfect, we are as they say "only human". Our addiction will always be part of us and when we least expect it and we've grown over confident, that addiction can take hold of us again. If for any reason anyone should loose their quits I want them to know Freedom Village Forum will be online for them when they need a place to lean on. It is a place of understanding where no one will judge but will have empathy for your situation.

If you quit smoking or you know someone who has then publicly announce the achievement by giving your name or that of someone else (with their permission of course) to be listed in the Achiever's Quit List.

I do not believe in bringing awareness to tobacco abuse with scare tactics (pictures of diseased lungs, etc), guilt trips or lectures. I feel it is best to bring proof to smokers ( I WAS one!) that quitting can be done successfully and they are not alone in giving up cigarette smoking.

There are no "ifs" "ands" or "buts"...CIGARETTE SMOKING IS AN ADDICTION and it does kill! When you "choose" to give up smoking, it will be for your own reasons and not someone else's. Those reasons can be for freedom from an addiction that is in control of your life or it can be for health, monetary, social, family, love, etc.... whatever the reason it will be yours and yours alone.

Take a look at the Achiever's Quit Smoking List....and you will see the proof that quitting is done everyday.....successfully!"

Respectfully yours,
James aka Bubba
